How many potatoes does it take to kill an Irishman? None!
Delicious O'Grady is a tragicomedy set in the time of the Great Irish Famine(though it wasn't that great). Inspired by the satirical works of Flann O'Brien, this circus theatre piece tells the tale of a family and its demise during the great hunger. It is a story of love, loss and potatoes.
Few artists tackle this still painful subject. Colm O'Grady has found a way to depict the story of his ancestors with irreverence, wit and physical skill. He brings to life characters who may have lived through the blight and died of it. O'Grady presents a show that is touching, hilarious and uplifting.
Caution: Contains nudity and potatoes.
Directed by Cal Mc Crystal (Cirque du Soleil, The Mighty Boosh)
Circus, comedy and the Irish Famine, it might sound like a bizarre combination but believe me it works. You'll be on your feet by the end of this show.
Roise Goan Dublin Fringe Festival Director
Famine: Loved it. So engaging, theatrical and a real journey for the audience. So good to see something in the theatre that is so expressive of the author’s talent and his impulse to push it as far as he could with respect for his audience.

Peter Crann: After leaving art college in Sligo in 1993, Peter made his way to Spain where, through a series of fortuitous events became a leading painter of religious iconography in Spain. He has painted over 150 paintings that are hung permanently in churches and private collections throughout Southern Spain.
Since his return to Ireland in 1998, Peter became increasingly involved with music, and it features in all his recent paintings.
"A painter spends many many hours without social interaction, and indeed has to wait for months or even years for feedback on their work, while the musician, gets feedback during and immediately after the execution of his/her art - an altogether more social and interactive activity!"

The Lace’s performances always mean ‘its time to party’, push the limits, wave the arms in the air (as directed by lead singer/guitarist Daniel) and strut outrageously (as demonstrated by the guys out front). Any concert by The Lace will always bring a Congolese presence to the audience, no matter where it is, the word gets out on the grapevine and
the Congolese get on the bus and travel because they know it’s always going to be a party.
Playing a cocktail of well known songs from The Democratic Republic of Congo plus their own
compositions, their concerts will usually start with some gently swaying traditional Congolese Rumba
made popular by legendary bands like Luambo Franco's TPOK Jazz & Ochestre Matimilla, the
signature sound of Kinshasa in the late 70s. Once the audience have warmed up, the band will turn
the heat up further and after a few gear changes The Lace are in overdrive, playing the latest Kinois
Soukous dance music, with fast, interweaving rhythmic guitars and some sublime solos they will take
the audience with them, without fail, for a true Congolese Soukous dance workout.

This year’s programme presents a rare musical and spiritual treat bringing together two inspirational musicians: Yungchen Lhamo and Liam O’Maonlai.
Since fleeing Tibet on foot in 1989, Yungchen Lhamo has emerged as the leading Tibetan vocalist on the world stage. Since the release of her award-winning first album Tibetan Prayer, her music has met with critical praise worldwide, alternately described as "beautifully evocative," "mesmerizing," and "spine-tingling.” Her songs take listeners on an emotive journey across plateaus and soaring over vistas, with a charge and a charisma no doubt informed by her remarkable life story.
Liam O’Maonlai needs little introduction. Renowned for the formation of one of Ireland’s most successful bands, The HotHouse flowers back in 1985; Liam is a multi-instrumentalist who has gone on to perform solo and in a wide variety of musical collaborations. Liam believes in the incredible power which music has to connect people.
