BALKAN EXPRESSZ WITH DI GRINE KUZINE AND LAZIK ///
Hold on to your hat and get ready to board the musical expressway train for a fabulous journey through Eastern Europe’s hi energy music!
Berlin has many faces: some for day, some for night, and others for the past and present. Each face has its very own, original voice. Berlin band, Di Grine Kuzine, reflect all of these faces in all of their paradoxical complexity.
Di Grine Kuzine has a unique sound, marrying the melodies and harmonies of Central
and Eastern Europe with the rhythmic fervor of the metropolis. . Out of their hypnotic mix of beats and brass and an unlimited store of seductively beautiful melodies, the band has created an unmistakably unique language. Digging much deeper than pop and burning much brighter than folk, it is music from the wild heart of Europe, outside space and time.
Di Grine Kuzine managed to perfect the trick of inventing pasts and bringing them into the present. They can forge as many bridges as they want to, to all kinds of destinations, yet they always return home again-for Berlin is both the goal as well as the starting point for their music.
Lazik is a quintet specializing in the fusion of east European music: Bulgarian music, Serbian, Gypsy and
Klezmer music with the melodies of the west: Irish music, Breton and Scottish music. An ingredient of
Scandinavian power and a few Turkish spices are added to the mix. The result, high in colour, is seasoned with the band’s arrangements that mixes styles and tastes from all over Europe.
