Cairde Sligo Arts Festival is inviting applications for a Festival Administrator to join the growing team behind Sligo’s multidisciplinary arts festival, which takes place each year in July. The Festival Administrator is a new key role and will work closely with the Festival Director. The position is part-time and will be based in Sligo town. Details below.

 

Festival Administrator 

16 hours per week 
Annual Salary €16,000 (€40,000 pro rata)
The appointment will be made on a three-year contract, with a view to renewal. A six month probationary period will apply. 

Duties will include:

Basic Admin – Administration across the breadth of the festival activities including:

  • Contracts for Artists and other Festival contract staff

  • Admin on Grant Applications, Reporting and Drawdown

  • Fundraising, Friends + Sponsors Administration

  • Take Minutes at board meetings + distribute

  • Dealing with general enquiries

  • Maintaining up to date policies (as signed off on by board)

Financial Records
Monthly bank reconciliation, proper record keeping of all income and expenditure, Processing Payroll, liaison with company accountant, preparation of financial records for board meetings and for annual audit.

Governance
Ensure correct Record Keeping with CRO and CRA, in conjunction with Company Secretary

PR/ Digital Media
The festival will engage a PR/Communications person who will oversee the communications strategy. The Festival Administrator will oversee some basic social media updates / newsletter dissemination / website updates.  

Artist Liaison
Arrange accommodation and travel for artists


Work Experience:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years previous admin experience.

  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in book keeping.

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Have experience of Payroll processing using Sage payroll or similar package is desirable.

  • Have online competencies: be able to use online banking / use PayPal / manage mail chimp and be proficient in online fundraising apps/tools. 

  • A capacity to use photoshop/ canva or image editing software is advantageous but not essential.

  • No previous experience in the arts is required but an interest in the arts is appreciated.

Knowledge
A knowledge of the local landscape in relation to artists and arts organisations, local authorities and local business is desirable but not essential.

A knowledge of the national landscape in relation to artists and arts organisations, other national festivals and funding for the arts is desirable but not essential. 

Skills
Strong inter-personal skills with excellent oral and written communication – essential.

Ability to complete a task accurately, on time and as requested is essential.

Ability to prioritise and complete work under pressure is important.

A natural problem solver with an ability to multi-task is desirable.

Attitude
Ability to get on well with a wide variety of people essential

A commitment to the organisation’s aims essential

An enthusiastic approach to work and willingness to work flexibly – especially in the lead up to and during the festival period – is essential.
