Cairde Sligo Arts Festival and Ciclop Festival are delighted to announce the recipients of our Irish–Balearic Residency Exchange, funded by The Arts Council’s International Residency Initiatives Scheme.

Javier García and Neus Picó of A Contra Cor (Illes Balears) will use the residency to develop their street performance project ‘O’. Combining physical theatre, acrobatics, dance and masks, the work explores migration, survival, adaptation and belonging.

Jake Fairbrother and Charlotte Bruce (IRL) will develop their aerial dance rope duet ‘Outgrown’, exploring family, time and growth through the evolving relationship between two siblings moving from childhood into adulthood.

The first residency takes place at C.IN.E. Creation Centre in Sineu, Mallorca, from 5–17 October, followed by a second residency in Sligo from 2–14 November.

This residency exchange has been made possible through funding from the Arts Council’s International Residency Initiatives Scheme.

We are also grateful for additional support from Sligo Arts Service, subsidised space through C.IN.E. and The Factory Performance Space, and the continued support of the ISACS Network.

Every year we work with a small army of volunteers who help us to bring the festival to life. Volunteering roles include stewarding, ushering, box office duty, invigilation and helping to take care of our artists and our audiences.
