An exhibition of stopping places, camps and halting sites used by Travellers in Sligo. The locations have been identified within historic documentation, newspaper archives and through gathering local knowledge and community history of the Travelling people in Sligo.


The exhibition is part of Hereditas, where artist Séamus Nolan is working collaboratively with Sligo Traveller Support Group to explore elements of Traveller culture and social history. Hereditas has been commissioned as part of ART:2023, a Decade of Centenaries collaboration from The Arts Council of Ireland and The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

Séamus Nolan is currently a doctoral student with UCD, NCAD, and IMMA, and is funded by the Irish Research Council.
