A research and development project which aims to explore the sounds and the landscape of the Ox mountains, particularly the Slishwood division, as it has a history of extreme metamorphism. 

Artists Jackie Maguire and Melissa O’Brien have been exploring and researching the flora and sounds of the Ox mountains as part of an ongoing artist in residence project.

Audiences are invited to join Jackie and Melissa for a guided walk, departing from Slish Wood car park at 12 noon.

To register your interest, please email info@cairdefestival.com with the subject line: Listening with the Ox. This will help us to gauge attendance in advance.

Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear, and bring drinking water and insect repellent. The walk will last approximately two hours and will include some uphill terrain.

ARTIST BIOS

Jackie Maguire is a musician, actor, theatre maker, researcher, author, early childhood arts lecturer and Research Associate at Trinity College Dublin, with a multidisciplinary practice spanning performance, education and creative research. 

Melissa O’Brien is an artist originally trained in fine art printmaking, whose practice encompasses sustainable pinhole photography and anthotypes using plant-based materials, alongside communal making and workshop-based projects. Both Jackie and Melissa are recent graduates of the Professional Diploma in Art & Ecology at NCAD.
