Cairde Sligo Arts Festival and Ciclop Festival are delighted to announce the recipients of our Irish–Balearic Residency Exchange

Javier García and Neus Picó of A Contra Cor (Illes Balears) will use the residency to develop
their street performance project ‘O’. Combining physical theatre, acrobatics, dance and
masks, the work explores migration, survival, adaptation and belonging.

Jake Fairbrother and Charlotte Bruce (IRL) will develop their aerial dance rope duet
‘Outgrown’, exploring family, time and growth through the evolving relationship between
two siblings moving from childhood into adulthood.

The first residency takes place at C.IN.E. Creation Centre in Sineu, Mallorca, from 5–17
October, followed by a second residency in Sligo from 2–14 November.

We’re delighted to collaborate with Ciclop and C.IN.E. to support Javi, Neus, Jake and
Charlotte in developing new work and building artistic connections between Ireland and the
Balearic Islands.

This residency exchange has been made possible through funding from the Arts Council’s
International Residency Initiatives Scheme. We are also grateful for additional support from
Sligo Arts Service, subsidised space through C.IN.E. and The Factory Performance Space,
and the continued support of the ISACS Network.
