A conversation between poet Annemarie Ni Churreáin (Hymn to All the Restless Girls, The Gallery Press, 2025) and author Betsy Cornwell (Ring of Salt: A Memoir of Finding Home and Hope on the Wild Coast of Ireland, Renegade, 2025) moderated by Journalist Adrienne Murphy.

In their latest books, through differing literary styles, Ni Churreáin and Cornwell explore the patriarchal marginalisation, stigmatisation and control of “outsider” women – including “single mothers” and other female “trouble-makers” – both historically and ongoingly.

Cornwell and Ni Churreáin are amongst the world’s 1 percent of solo homeowners who are women. Amazingly, they have each managed to circumvent the banking system so far, instead purchasing their homes through community co-operation.
